Commercial credit guide

Editorial Methodology

CLOC's content is produced to be educationally accurate, clearly disclosed, and free from fabricated claims. We explain commercial credit concepts without presenting hypothetical scenarios as real financing offers.

Content creation process

Each page begins with the primary question a business owner is likely asking. We write a direct answer in plain language, then add supporting context, qualification factors, cost considerations, and a realistic example where useful. We do not pad length with filler. A page is complete when the primary question is answered accurately.

What we do not publish

We do not publish: invented lender names or fake lender relationships; fabricated approval statistics or funding claims; customer testimonials that were not organically submitted; fee or rate claims presented as guarantees; or any claim we cannot attribute to a verifiable public source.

Data and citations

Where we reference external data — from the Federal Reserve, SBA, FDIC, CFPB, or other public bodies — we link to or identify the source. Data from these sources is presented as of the publication date and may become outdated. See our Sources page for a full list of reference materials used.

Updates and corrections

We review and update content when underlying conditions change — regulatory changes, shifts in typical market rates, or corrections to factual errors. If you believe a page contains an error, contact us. Substantive corrections are noted in the page.
